For those of you that don’t know me personally, you haven’t heard the good news!
Now this didn’t come as a shock to me, because unlike most people, my engagement story is a little different.
Andrew and I have never been one of those people that like elaborate surprises, and either if any of us did, neither of us are very good at keeping secrets which has to be a good trait. So when we started talking about rings, a few weeks before my trip to Atlanta, (the first time I’d been away from him) I assumed a ring was coming when I got back.
There were obvious clues too – asking my ring size, giving specific details of what kind of ring he may have gotten me. So when the moment I got home from Atlanta he spilled the beans and I had a month to wait for the ring to come in.
(This ended up being a great thing because we started planning the wedding before I even had the ring which really helped us out – but I’ll get to that in a different post.)
I had theories on how he would do it, and I even made suggestions after my friend started asking me how I wanted him to propose. When I had no clue I decided what is the one thing I love the most (besides Andrew of course) and the answer was cake! (and rock concerts but cake would do)
Thus I suggested him baking a cake. Now I don’t know why I had a feeling he was going to do it on this random Thursday, but I felt it coming. I even looked in the refrigerator to see if there was a cake but alas there was none.
And being impatient I may have ruined the whole thing, because as Andrew came home from class and got down on one knee (while I’m hot gluing flowers onto our centerpieces) He uttered one line before I just screamed “RING RING RING”
Since there was no cake we decided for the next best thing –
KRISPY KREME RUN!
and it was delicious.
Also since we were prepared we knew that we wanted to take engagement pictures at the fair. Since it was one of the first places we went when we first started dating and we look forward to our 8 hour food fest every year.
Since we are TRYING (and I stress that word) to keep things on a budget, one of my friends from film school said he’d help out and took some fun video for us to grab pictures from!
Here are a few of my favorites!
Daniel also took a great video of us on the ferris wheel and I tied it to my favorite song by Future Islands!
I just wanted to share my story, since in the upcoming months expect a lot of DIY posts and wedding sagas since I want to divulge into a proper blog! And possibly get my foot in the door of weddings again!
